My name is Matthew Fowler; I do Computer Things in Brighton, England.
Currently, I am doing Computer Things on a freelance basis.
Sometimes this means I’m doing “IT support” for a small local business to solve a particular little problem they have, other times it has me doing bespoke C# application development, or loading complicated Excel spreadsheets in to SQL Server databases to enable them to be analysed more robustly.
Previously, I did Computer Things as a full-time employee in my traditional career as an “Application Developer” (and other similar job titles).
I grew up with computers, as part of the “8-bit home computer” generation. I am enthusiastic about technology, making it do useful things and solving the awkward little technical challenges it presents along the way.
I taught myself to program (BASIC on my Amstrad, then QBasic, VB3-4-5, PHP when the web came along), played around with everything computer-y I could find, took Computing at A-Level when I got to college, then graduated with a BSc (hons) in Computer Science from the University of Reading.
For fun, I’m in to 3D Printing and solving little problems by creating custom CAD models in Fusion 360 and printing them in-house in PLA plastic.

If you think I may be able to help you with some of your Computer Things - or you would like a copy of my formal CV / résumé -please send me an email.
