My name is Matthew Fowler; I do Computer Things in Hampshire, England.
Currently, I am doing Computer Things on a freelance basis.
Sometimes this means I’m doing “IT support” for a small local business to solve a particular little problem they have, other times it has me doing bespoke Android or C# application development, or loading complicated Excel spreadsheets in to SQL Server databases to enable them to be analysed more robustly.
Previously, I did Computer Things as a full-time employee in my traditional career as an “Application Developer” (and other similar job titles).
I grew up with computers, as part of the “8-bit home computer” generation. I am enthusiastic about technology, making it do useful things and solving the awkward little technical challenges it presents along the way.
I taught myself to program (BASIC on my Amstrad, then QBasic, VB3-4-5, PHP when the web came along), played around with everything computer-y I could find, took Computing at A-Level when I got to college, then graduated with a BSc (hons) in Computer Science from the University of Reading.

If you think I may be able to help you with some of your Computer Things - or you would like a copy of my formal CV / résumé -please send me an email.
